Blazin 420: BIGGDreka, thank you for joining us today! Let’s start at the beginning. Tell us about when you first realized your love for music.

BIGGDreka: Thank you for having me! My love for music began when I was just seven years old. I was singing Gloria by Enchantment when a friend of my mother overheard me. They were so impressed that they took me around to the neighbors, showing off my voice. That moment made me realize I had something special. Singing in church choirs, school choirs, and talent shows really helped train my voice and deepen my love for music.

Blazin 420: What role did college play in your musical journey?

BIGGDreka: College was pivotal for me. I attended on a music scholarship, which gave me so many opportunities to connect with other creatives. One standout moment was performing on stage with K. Michelle at a college function. The crowd’s reaction was electric! It made me believe I could take this further, and that’s when I started writing down my own experiences and emotions to create music.

Blazin 420: Life took a turn when you became a mother. How did that change your path?

BIGGDreka: Becoming a mother was a big shift for me. I left college to focus on raising my son. I worked a 9-to-5 job to provide for us, but deep down, I knew it wasn’t enough. Music was calling me. I started going to open mics to test the waters, and those experiences led to me becoming the lead singer of my own band. We performed regularly on the World Famous Beale Street, which was such a great learning experience.

Blazin 420: You’ve also ventured into acting. Tell us about your role in Uncorked and your work in theater.

BIGGDreka: Acting was another exciting challenge for me! I had the opportunity to appear in the Netflix movie Uncorked, which was a dream come true. It pushed me to showcase my skills in a new way. After that, I auditioned for The Union Musical and was selected to travel and perform. That experience really taught me how to bring emotion and storytelling to the stage, whether through singing or acting.

Blazin 420: You’ve made the bold decision to focus on your solo music career. How has that journey been so far?

BIGGDreka: It’s been incredible and challenging, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. My singles LaLa Said and Put That Work have helped me grow a loyal fan base, and it feels amazing to see people resonate with my music. Right now, I’m working on one of the biggest projects of my career, set to release in 2024. I’m pouring my heart and soul into it, and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it!

Blazin 420: With such a rich and diverse journey so far, what’s next for BIGGDreka?

BIGGDreka: The best is yet to come! I’m focused on growing as an artist and storyteller, pushing boundaries with my music, and connecting with fans on a deeper level. I’ve come a long way from those neighborhood performances as a kid, but my passion for music has never wavered. Stay tuned because 2024 is going to be a big year for me!

Blazin 420: How can fans stay connected with you and your journey?

BIGGDreka: You can follow me on Instagram at @antinamusic. I’m always sharing updates, sneak peeks, and behind-the-scenes moments there. Thank you to everyone who’s supported me so far — you’re the reason I keep going!

Blazin 420: Any final words for aspiring artists out there?

BIGGDreka: Never stop believing in yourself. Life will throw challenges at you, but if you have a dream, don’t let anything stop you from pursuing it. Keep working, keep creating, and stay true to your vision. The journey might not be easy, but it will always be worth it.
